Most Halloween props sit in a corner and get ignored by the second guest. The Delightfully Spooky Animated Witch Broom rolls across the floor on a motorized base hidden in its bristles, and it only starts when someone walks past.
It Moves By Itself
A small motorized wheel unit sits inside the bristles at the base of the Delightfully Spooky Animated Witch Broom, out of sight from any normal viewing angle. When triggered, it drives the broom across the floor in a wobbling, upright path that reads as a broom moving under its own will rather than a toy being pushed. Hard floors work best. Thick carpet slows the wheels and rugs with fringe will stop them, so pick a stretch of wood, tile or laminate with a few feet of clear run. The power switch is tucked up under the bristles, which is deliberate and also easy to miss on the first evening. Feel for it near the base of the handle before you decide the batteries are dead.
Waits For Footsteps
A motion sensor watches the space in front of the broom and starts the routine when someone crosses it. That timing is the whole effect. A prop that runs on a loop is background noise within ten minutes and flat batteries by the end of the night; one that stays perfectly still until the moment you walk past is a different experience entirely. Set it where people arrive rather than where people sit: a hallway, the top of a stair, just inside a doorway, beside the sweet bowl on a porch.
